Accessibility statement

What we have done

• Body text is set at 18px rather than the usual 16px
• A text size control in the header steps the whole site up to 20px or 22px, and remembers your choice
• Body text contrast is around 14:1, far beyond the AA requirement of 4.5:1, and every smaller label and status marker has been checked to clear 4.5:1 too
• Every interactive element keeps a visible focus outline — we have not removed any
• Buttons and links are at least 48 pixels tall
• Form labels sit above the field and are never replaced by placeholder text
• Errors are explained in words next to the field, not by colour alone
• The site works at 200% browser zoom without sideways scrolling
• Animation is minimal and is switched off entirely if your device asks for reduced motion
• There is a skip link to jump straight to the main content

How we have tested it

We have tested with automated accessibility checks, keyboard-only navigation, and at increased zoom and text sizes. Colour contrast has been checked against the WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA as a minimum. We have not yet commissioned an independent audit or completed formal testing with screen reader users, so we are not claiming full conformance. When that testing is done, this statement will be updated to say exactly what was found.

Known gaps

• Independent audit and screen reader user testing are outstanding
• Photography has not yet been added; alternative text will be written when it is
• We do not yet offer a printed information pack for people who do not use the internet — we can post information on request in the meantime
